BSN GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

University of Saint Mary will consider students for graduation and conferral of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing when they have met the general requirements for graduation and when they have:

  • Completed all University of Saint Mary's liberal studies and general education requirements for the bachelor's degree (128 credit hours).
  • Minimum grade of "C" in each nursing course is required for the nursing major. Grade of "D" is not acceptable and the course must be repeated.
  • Students who are taking nursing courses may be allowed to repeat a course one time. Students will be dismissed after failing the same nursing course twice. A student who earns a "D" or "F" in a second nursing course will be dismissed from the program.
  • Mentoring Experience: Two courses in the BSN program require completion of a mentoring experience. Course instructors will assign a project which can be done on the job and must be evaluated by a preceptor or sponsor at your place of employment. Preceptors or sponsors must be in position that is more advanced than your current role. The requirements of the mentoring experience are; completion of a background check and current physical exam. A student who is unsafe in the mentoring experience fails the course and will be reviewed by the Nursing Department Admissions and Progression Committee.

Undergraduate Credit
(400 level courses)

  • Satisfactory completion (minimum grade C) of the five core classes for a total of 16 credit hours.

Graduate Credit
(700 level courses)

  • Satisfactory completion (minimum grade B) of the five core classes for a total of 16 credit hours.
