There is no distinction between students who earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Saint Mary on-campus or online. Regardless of the course delivery method, the degree is exactly the same. You may worry if you have the skills to complete an online degree, but for the most part, online learning is comparable to traditional on-campus education. Where they differ is in the delivery method which allows online students more access to online courses so you can fit your studies into your schedule.
Similar to most on-campus programs, online courses will require students to utilize textbooks that will be part of the instruction for each course. But, instead of driving to the campus to your classroom, you will make your classroom anywhere you can access a computer and the internet. All course lectures are available on the course website. You can access and replay the lectures as often as you want, whenever you want. All of our class work (homework, writing assignments, and exams) are completed and submitted online. Each week students can log in and view a weekly course syllabus to help maintain pace with class studies.
As an online student, you have the power to fit your education into your calendar. Instead of going out to lunch, many students take lunch at the computer to complete reading assignments. Students with children wake up early or work late after children are asleep to complete
weekly work.
While you will not have to visit the University of Saint Mary campus to complete your studies, as a nursing degree online student you still have tremendous levels of support from the university. You will never be alone if you have any sort of problems, just contact your program manager, course facilitator, or other students for help and support.
While support from the faculty and staff is a big help, possibly your biggest form of support will come from classmates, many of whom become lifelong friends after your online learning experience. When you come to the end of your program and it is time to graduate we invite you to attend graduation ceremonies on-campus and have a chance to meet the peers you have had so many great discussions with online.
